Start Your New Year Right: Get Healthy!

Happy New Year!  We have all made our New Year’s Resolution(s).  Since so many of us are morbidly obese, obese or overweight…Our number one resolution is to lose weight!  We start off by making millions of plans.  We read the latest magazine articles on weight loss.  We go over many fitness magazines to get the latest exercise tips/ideas.  We throw out any and all junk food.  We get healthy groceries.  We are ready.  We are focused and motivated.

     Usually by the third or fourth week of January, we begin to have problems.  We are not liking the changes that we must make in order to be successful at this losing game.  We lose our focus.  We do not stay motivated.

     Well, I am here to tell you that you must stay focused.  You need to begin to visualize where you want to be.  You need to start looking at yourself in a positive way.  I have lost a lot of weight and I too get discouraged and at times feel like giving up, but I NEVER want to weigh 350 pounds.  I begin to list all of my successes.  I can shave my legs.  I can tie my sneakers.  I fit in the seats at the movie theatre.  I do not have to go to a restaurant before meeting my friends to see if they have chairs that are large enough for me.

     Do not get me wrong…it does not get any easier, but I do remember where I was and I do try to focus on where I am going.  At times, the pieces of my life puzzle don’t fit…but I do not dwell on the pieces that are not working.  I instead try to work on the pieces that are working because just like when you are putting together a puzzle, the more pieces that fit together, the closer you are to the finished product.

     I will not give up!  I will stay motivated and focused.  I will complete my life puzzle.  Don’t give up!  Join me and work on completing your puzzle!  You too can get fit, toned and healthy!
