DIET DETOURS occur all the time! We are doing well. We have bought all of the healthy, lowfat foods. We are feeling great! We are losing weight. Then, we hit a road block! Our road block could last for a day, a month or it could continue for a long, long time.
How do we get back on the road to success? Are we sabotaging ourselves? Are we using lots of excuses? We must begin to use positive feedback. We have to stop listening to negative talk. We might be talking negatively to ourselves or we are hanging around negative people.
Being positive is a choice! Being happy is a choice! It is not easy, but we must continue to change our lifestyle. At times, we must choose to distance ourselves from friends. Friends mean well, but they do not understand our food addiction. They believe that you can stop eating and the weight just falls off. They do not have a food problem. They tend to love to give advice. They think they know it all. I do not feel that they do this on purpose. They are just not in our shoes.
So, rev your engines and begin by taking a short drive. Make a list of positive reasons to lose your weight. Start keeping a weight-loss journal. Write down everything…how much you eat, what you are eating, time your eating experience, how are you feeling etc.
When you find yourself in a detour; map your way to success. Do what you have to do to make it! Stay positive! You are back on your weight-loss journey! Let’s make it all the way to GOAL!
